Current members have until the 30th September to renew for the current season and as of the 1st October, wait list positions will be offered in order of application.

Due to the number of people that wish to join the Brighton Life Saving Club Nipper program, we currently have a wait list system. The positions are selected according to the following order:

1. Siblings of existing families

2. New families who are willing to take on a voluntary role

3. All other families in date order of entry on the waiting list

WHAT NOW?

After the 1st October, you will be contacted to let you know if your application has been successful for this season. Once you have a confirmed position, you will be sent the details on how to register and make payment for the season.

INVOLVEMENT

The Nipper program is run solely by volunteers and each week we require a dedicated group of families to help us successfully deliver our program. It is most rewarding to get involved and you get to meet a great bunch of people as well. We will be seeking regular volunteers to fill the following roles:

  • Kitchen and BBQ helpers
  • First Aid Officers (must be qualified)
  • Age Managers to manage the groups (must complete Age Managers course)
  • Assistant Managers
  • Water Safety personnel (must have a SRC or Bronze Medallion

Administration Team

The Nipper Admin Team is responsible for administering the Nippers program. Members of the Admin Team are easily identified by their red shirts.

A 'front desk' information table is manned each Friday night of Nippers with two Admin Team members. This is an important part of the Nippers program vas many parents have questions. They can also assist with uniform purchases and First Aid. Parents with a first aid qualification are encouraged to join the team on a roster basis.

The Admin Team also oversees the weekly sausage sizzle. A small group of dedicated parents provides the logistics each week. They are supported by a roster of all families that are enrolled in the program. Each family is required to assist once per season.

Age Managers

The Age Manager has one of the most important roles in surf lifesaving. They are responsible for caring for and nurturing, the future Australian surf lifesavers. Their role is both to help develop our young people into the lifesavers of the future and to provide the supportive environment in which they can learn and develop.

An Age Manager is responsible for the care, safety and wellbeing and development of the junior life saver. An Age Manager is responsible for facilitating the development of the junior life saver and their surf lifesaving skills (movement skills, surf awareness, etc) and personal skills (confidence, teamwork, leadership, etc.).

Age Managers work with groups' Coach and assistant. They are responsible for keeping accurate records, maintaining the sign in sheet, parent rosters, communicating with parents and the Admin Team and are identified by their grey shirts.

Water Safety Team

The Nipper water safety team are tasked with providing additional supervision to that of the coach during water activities.

Members of the water safety team are easily identified by their fluoro orange rash vests and caps. To be a member of this group, you need to hold a current SRC (Surf Rescue Certificate or Bronze Medallion).

First Aid

With any sporting or club program, First Aid is always essential. If you have a current First Aid award, you may be able to assist us with our program on a Friday night.
